Visit Canada’s foremost illumination festival the Ontario Power Generation Winter Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls, Canada – November 19th, 2016 to January 31st, 2017. Each winter we capture the magic of the holiday season, Make It Your Winter Tradition!
The Winter Festival of Lights illuminates an eight kilometre long illumination route that travels through the beautiful landscapes of the Niagara Parks, Dufferin Islands and surrounding tourist districts. As a treasured holiday tradition for people from around the world the Winter Festival of Lights is attended by over one million visitors each season.
Visitors can expect to see the millions of lights that make up the many iconic displays that have become favourites for attendees including the shimmering Zimmerman Fountain, Noah’s Ark, the world’s largest illuminated Canadian-American flag and the three dimensional Canadian Wildlife displays and over fifty wrapped trees in Dufferin Islands. Recent lighting improvements include the illumination of the Toronto Power Generating Station with choreographed sound & light show, 3D Projection Mapping Show on the Oakes Hotel on Fallsview Boulevard, the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles at the Top of Clifton Hill and three large Angels at the Niagara Parks Police Building. In addition to the its illuminations and displays, the Winter Festival of Lights also has several events taking place each season including Opening Ceremonies, Laser Light Shows, weekly fireworks presented by Fallsview Casino, a new Holiday Walking Tour, Festival of Stars Concerts, the Sparkle Lighting Awards, Niagara Falls New Years Eve Concert & the Niagara Falls Icewine Festival. There is no admission fee to view the illuminations but donations are gratefully accepted by Festival Ambassadors at the exit of Dufferin Islands (suggested contribution ($5 – $10 per car; coach bus’s $1 per passenger), with proceeds used to enhance the lights and displays.
